A supporter group of Partizan FC last night called for the murder of a B92 TV reporter, during a football match in Belgrade. Brankica Stankovic, whose investigative program exploring hooliganism and crime is currently airing on B92 TV in several parts, was once again verbally attacked, this time during Partizan's UEFA Europa League match. The chant threatened that Stankovic would "fare the same as Curuvija", in reference to publisher and journalist Slavko Curuvija, shot and killed in Belgrade ten years ago. This was accompanied by the kicking and in the end deflating of a plastic doll, that the supporters said represented Stankovic. Insajder (Insider) – the program that stirred the hooligan response in the shape of threats and offensive messages that first appeared on the internet – among others, dealt precisely with the supporter group that organized Wednesday night's incident. The State Prosecution says that the video from the stadium could give them grounds to file criminal charges. B92 plans to continue to explore the subject of hooliganism despite the threats, with Editor-in-Chief Veran Matic commenting today that "the least the state can do at this point is to ban spectators from sports events". Meanwhile, the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) called on the club's management to urgently, within its jurisdictions, powers and the law, do all to protect Stankovic and others working on the program. NUNS said in a statement, referring to last night's events, that "this undisguised death threat, accompanied by vulgar playing around with a naked doll, a pornographic prop, which was represented as the B92 reporter, can be seen as an open threat of rape toward Stankovic". The association said that special responsibility now lies with Partizan's management, and above all with politicians and state officials who sit on the club's boards. (B92)
