It was agreed that contributions for pensions and disability insurance will be paid by March 1, and that the workers will stop blocking the railroad once their wages are deposited in their accounts, adding that negotiations will then continue regarding the social program and restarting production. Independent Union President Novica Markovic told the Tanjug news agency that the workers were surprised by the recent moves of the company owners. Milomir Joksimovic, who owns Autovojvodina, which bought Prvi Maj three years ago, sold shares of Autovojvodina to the Dunav Group for a symbolic price. “They are preparing something for is, we’ll see what it is in time, but we are skeptical that it will be good for the workers,” Markovic said, asking whether such a decision can be made without the shareholders assembly. Everything that was agreed on at the meeting was put onto paper during the several-hour-long session and is ready for the workers to sign, but it will have to be reviewed by Joksimovic first, reporters were told.
