President Boris Tadic has reportedly ordered state officials not to come up with public prognosis "that would irritate the Netherlands". Belgrade daily Danas writes that Tadic's "strict orders" concern all those officials directly or indirectly involved in EU integrations. "Tadic issues gag order on ministers" The Netherlands has been blocking the unfreezing of the SAA between Serbia and the EU, demanding full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. Now the newspaper says that Dutch officials are "extremely sensitive" to comments made by Serb and European politicians announcing that this position might change. The Dutch "do not want their own and international public to think that they had succumbed to pressure and that someone from the outside created an atmosphere for a change in the policy that they [the Dutch] have the right to sovereignly decide on", according to the article. For this reason, the newspaper's sources said, "it is important that Serbian officials, and those from EU countries who favor Serbia, do not go to media with announcements about the easing of the Dutch position and unblocking of the Interim Trade Agreement as a done deal". According to the article, "all prognosis, optimistic announcements, assurances that the deal is done, and that application for EU candidature follows, have been expressly forbidden by Tadic". The gag order will be in place until the EU Council of Ministers meets on December 7, claims the daily.
