Opposition officials have submitted a proposal for dismissing Parliamentary Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic. According to officials of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS), Djukic-Dejanovic violated the constitution and parliamentary procedures. Opposition calls for dismisal of Speaker The group of 51 MPs from the three parties submitted the proposal stating that Djukic-Dejanovic did not propose the law for confirming Vojvodina’s authority during the parliamentary session, which was submitted by DSS and NS on April 23, 2009. The initiative states that the MPs have warned the speaker on several occasions that the procedures were being violated. The three parties also stated that the proposed decision for the protection of the sovereignty of the constitutional order which was submitted to procedures on June 16, 2008, was never include in a parliamentary session by Djukic-Dejanovic either. It was also stated that the speaker ended a meeting on October 28 because there were no government officials in attendance, and then tried to continue a session on November 2 without government officials present. “After that, the speaker did not interpret the decree of procedures correctly during the entire time of this session when the question of giving MPs chances to speak in parliament was addressed in asking to reply because of a violations of procedures, giving illogical, wrong and irrelatively long so-called explanations,” the initiative states.
