The opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) today marked its patron saint day (slava). Speaking at the celebration, party leader Tomislav Nikoic said that come next St. Petka (Paraskevi) Day, the Progressives "will be in power". "Next October in government," says opposition leader "Today we can say that we have not shamed this great saint and that her prayers went to the right place," he was quoted as saying. Next year, Nikolic continued, "when the party is in power, it will be more difficult to submit a report" on the patron saint day. SNS – formed last year by dissident officials and MPs from the ranks of the Radicals (SRS) – marked the day today in the presence of reporters and party leadership.
