Serbs should vote at the upcoming local elections in Kosovo as there is no alternative, says Independent Liberal Party leader Slobodan Petrovic. In an interview with Voice of America, he said that the conditions were not up to scratch, but that a boycott would not improve matters. "No alternative to elections" Following the Serbian authorities’ to advise Serbs against participating, Petrovic said that his overriding motive for taking part was the interests of the Serb people, their future and survival in the region. He said that the Serbian Orthodox Church’s call for a boycott would definitely have a detrimental impact on turnout, which he regretted. “On the other hand, I’m a man who deals with real problems, and that’s why I say that our motive is to improve our people’s plight here, and I know it’s easy to criticize, and I know that there are many reasons to oppose it,” said Petrovic .
