Interior Minister Ivica Dacic says that police cooperation between the countries of the region is currently in better shape than political cooperation. "Visible progress has been made in police cooperation in this part of the region, without which there cannot be a successful clampdown on organized crime," Dacic said during an interval at the 9th Regional Ministerial Conference on Illegal Migration, Organized Crime, Corruption and Terrorism in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia. He said that, in September, Belgrade would be hosting an international conference for interior and justice minister from the region that would also be attended by European Commission representatives. “Our goal is to achieve full cooperation and exchange of information to prevent all forms of criminal activity,“ stressed Dacic. The minister said that criminals from the countries in the region found it easy to strike deals and reach agreements without any formal signings, as “they have a common interest in committing crimes.“ Today’s conference is being attended by interior ministers from Slovenia, Austria, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.
