According to earlier reports, talks on forming municipal authorities are due to open today between the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) and SPS-PUPS-JS coalition. SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic said that the two parties would look to thrash out their respective manifesto goals regarding the formation of local governments in the Belgrade municipalities of Zemun and Vozdovac. Markovic added that the topics of discussion had to be pertinent to the problems facing local residents, not global politics. The SNS earlier agreed to cooperate on forming governments in these two municipalities with the Democratic Party of Serbia coalition. In addition, they announced cooperation at state level in lobbying for new parliamentary elections and a referendum on Serbian NATO membership, as well as pursuing consistent state policies regarding Kosovo and the Vojvodina statute. Marković added that the topics of discussion had to be pertinent to the problems facing local residents, not global politics.
