Officials of the opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS) have called on PM Mirko Cvetkovic to hand in his resignation. They are calling for Cvetkovic to resign and for new parliamentary elections to be announced. DSS-NS urge PM, govt. to quit DSS-NS organized a campaign in downtown Belgrade on Monday asking citizens to take part in a symbolic appraisal of the government’s work one year after it was put together. NS leader Velimir Ilic and the DSS Economic Council chairman, Nenad Popovic, called on Cvetkovic to resign, stating that Serbia would find itself on the verge of a social and economic catastrophe unless new elections are not announced immediately.
