Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Wei Jinghua says a number of Chinese companies are very interested in taking part in infrastructure projects in Serbia. He added that China supported Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and believed that the issue of Kosovo should be resolved through negotiations between Serbia and Pristina. "China supports integrity and cooperation" "China firmly believes that the principle of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity is a basic rule of international law that should be adhered to by all countries," Wei said in an interview published in the Wednesday issue of Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. “The issue of Kosovo relates to important principles of international law, and China has therefore decided to submit its written opinion to the International Court of Justice, outlining its basic position on this matter,” he underscored. Asked in what areas China saw Serbia as a partner, Wei said that exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, science, education and the military were intensifying and yielding new results on a daily basis. “Our relations have a firm foundation and have a bright future, while enhancing practical cooperation is in the interests of both peoples,“ said the ambassador. On the subject of joint projects in Serbia, he said that “the competent ministries on both sides are currently analyzing the building of the Zemun-Borca bridge, and looking at modes of cooperation in other areas. I believe that that bridge is just the beginning, and I hope that both sides will be able to reach agreement on related issues as soon as possible,“ Wei said.
