We will work within that framework. We’ll also effect direct contacts with some of our partners,“ said French Ambassador Jean-Francois Terral. “I’ve been the ambassador to Serbia for two years, and have been involved in the visa question for two years. What I can say is that I think we’ll reach that goal now,“ he said. The UK has also lent its support to the visa liberalization process. “Although the UK isn’t in the Schengen zone, which means we’re not directly involved in those talks, we understand how important the scrapping of visas is for Serbian citizens. Many young people in Serbia have never traveled abroad, and we know how important it is to enable them to do so,“ said UK Ambassador Stephen Wordsworth. “There are still a lot of technical matters to be addressed, new laws need to be applied, but, for the time being, the road map is heading in the right direction. Quite a bit has already been done and I hope that Serbian citizens will be traveling to the EU without visas by the end of the year,“ he said.
