Sarkozy "supports Kosovo's independence"

French President Nicolas Sarkozy met in Paris on Monday with Kosovo Albanian government head Hashim Thaci. Sarkozy "reiterated France's support for Kosovo's independence and its EU entry", his office said in a statement. AFP says in its report that this was Thaci's "first visit to France since Kosovo declared independence in February 2008". Paris recognized the unilateral proclamation, which Belgrade considers to be an illegal act of secession.
