First Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic says he does not expect that the election results of the European Parliament will endanger EU enlargement. “It is not good for a black hole to exist in Europe,” Dacic told reports at a reception organized by German ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas. Dacic: EU is key national interest “I hope that the enlargement process will continue after the European Parliament elections,” Dacic said. He stated that it is in the best national and state interests of Serbia to become a member of the EU. “I hope that the time will come when the European path of Serbia will not depend on the way in which the government is formed and that the this will be the political program of all the parties,” Dacic said. He said that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), which he leads, was never against joining EU. Dacic said that the Interior Ministry is at the helm of the institutions working to get Serbia on the Schengen white list for visas. “The SPS decision has determined the European path of Serbia,” Dacic was quoted as saying.
