Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu is continuing with consultation with political parties about local elections that are due to end by mid next week, when he will give specific proposals concerning the date for the voting. Elections in Kosovo "again divide" Serbs Most likely, Belgrade daily Politika writes, it will be the second half of October. The daily also says that the elections, due to be organized by the Kosovo Albanian authorities without UNMIK, "have already divided the Kosovo Serbs", since there is no unified position on whether to take part. For the time being, the government and its Ministry for Kosovo also have no position on this, and until a binding recommendation has been issued to the Kosovo Serbs – as was the case in all previous ballots – they will voice stances of their parties, "and the party headquarters". Thus one of the leaders of Serbs in the province, Radmila Trajkovic, believes they should participate, "but only after there is decentralization" and they get "their own municipal and territorial units". "Unless there is decentralization, this means that the international community too, but also the Albanians, are not interested in a multi-ethnic Kosovo," she was quoted as saying.
