Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksadr Konuzin stated Monday that Moscow has nothing against Serbia's EU accession. He added that along with improving its relations with the EU, Belgrade should not forget Russia as its old friend. "Improve ties with EU, remember old friends" "The EU and Russia are not mutually exclusive and we are familiar with the Serbian officials' standpoint that European integrations are Serbia's priority as well as maintaining good relations with Russia," Konuzin said at the international conference Serbia and European Union. The ambassador stated that since 2000, the volume of commercial exchange between Serbia and Russia has drastically increased and that Russia is one of the greatest investors in this part of the Balkans. Head of the political sector of the EC delegation to Serbia, Thomas Gnocchi, said that it is early to draw conclusions in this phase of the visa liberalization and that the European Commission is finishing an assessment that is to be presented to the EU members. By that time, we will have all the information on the process' development, for the time being it is too early for reaching conclusions, Gnocchi said. Milica Delevic, who heads the government's EU integration office, repeated that EU integration process is the government's strategic priority. She added that Serbia must do many things from the European agenda "which are as important as the end goal of EU membership".
