Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that Serbia is ready to meet the demands expected of it for the liberalization of the visa regime. He said that Serbia is also ready to speak with the EU about all these questions and the consequences of putting the country on the white Schengen list. Serbia “ready for white Schengen” Dacic said, speaking at a conference on “Constructing Migration Partnerships,” said that there are many migration questions that should be looked at in order to overcome security aspects. “Of course security is at the top of our list of priorities. But, people that feel a natural need to move, and all the fake obstacles which would be set for them, would be bound to fail. These barriers only spread the region for illegal migration and strengthen the need for the services of organized crime groups,” Dacic said. “Serbia believes that a model of dialogue is needed for the visa liberalization, with naming high representatives for both sides, with topical and regular expert meetings, clearly defined criteria for progress and a defined deadline, not only for the activities of the Serbian side, but also for decisions being made by the EU,” he said. The Minister added that Serbia is ready to continue dialogue regarding migration at all times, with all partners, from other countries to the EU itself and all other international organizations and civil associations.
