The chief of Vojislav Seselj's defense team says that the leader of the Radicals (SRS) is subjected to "quiet murder" at the Hague Tribunal. Zoran Krasic told a news conference in Belgrade on Sunday that Seselj's human rights are being constantly violated. "Seselj's human rights violated" Seselj has been charged with war crimes by The Hague-based UN tribunal. He voluntarily surrendered and has been in detention since 2003. Krasic stated that the stalling of the process and a halt in the trial constitute for constant violations of the SRS leader's basic human rights. Six blood samples taken from Seselj in the past month, Krasic continued, have constantly shown bad results. According to him, Seselj is suffering "psychological torture". The fact that he has been detained by the tribunal for the past seven years is contrary to international standards, which call for trials to end in a reasonable amount of time, said Krasic. The SRS official told reports that the indefinite postponement of the trial in January this year constitutes for the Hague's abuse of the defendant, since it violates his right to an expedient trial.
