Today’s parliamentary session devoted to MPs’ questions came to an abrupt end, only one hour in, when opposition MPs walked out of the chamber. Even though the the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) chose the theme of today’s debate--the government’s economic policy--none of its members had any questions to pose. MPs' question session ends as non-starter Progressive MPs walked out explaining that the session had come too late, as they had requested it at the end of March, when a different set of savings measures had been in the pipeline. SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic said that the government had waited to “pack everything“ into one day before the session on the budget review, that it was a “see-through ploy“ and that he would be asking the government questions about the proposed economic measures tomorrow. Democratic Party of Serbia and New Serbia MPs also left the session, unhappy at government ministers’ attitude to their questions. The other theme of today’s debate was the dissolution of the Zemun municipal assembly, which was proposed by the Radicals. The only Radical member present, Marina Raguz, said that there was no one in parliament to ask about that issue. The session was attended by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic and Public Administration Minister Milan Markovic. In the afternoon, debate on amendments to the law on political parties is due to resume. Progressive MPs walked out explaining that the session had come too late, as they had requested it at the end of March, when a different set of savings measures had been in the pipeline.

SNS leader Tomislav Nikolić said that the government had waited to “pack everything“ into one day before the session on the budget review, that it was a “see-through ploy“ and that he would be asking the government questions about the proposed economic measures tomorrow.

Democratic Party of Serbia and New Serbia MPs also left the session, unhappy at government ministers’ attitude to their questions.

The other theme of today’s debate was the dissolution of the Zemun municipal assembly, which was proposed by the Radicals.

The only Radical member present, Marina Raguž, said that there was no one in parliament to ask about that issue.

The session was attended by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković, Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić, Finance Minister Diana Dragutinović and Public Administration Minister Milan Marković.

In the afternoon, debate on amendments to the law on political parties is due to resume.
