Serb Radical Party (SRS) activists and supporters have obstructed the demolition of a building in Zemun owned by SRS MP Jovan Damjanovic. The party’s deputy leader, Dragan Todorovic, said in a statement to journalists that the Temporary Zemun Municipal Council was “conducting reprisals against SRS members, which is borne out by today’s act.“ Radicals obstruct demolition work Todorovic said that Damjanovic did not have planning permission, but that he did have “certain documents,“ adding that none of the neighboring buildings had received planning permission, and that the Radicals would in future protect “their citizens.“ Damjanovic said that if the demolition work went ahead he would take his case to the European Court of Justice in Strasbourg and seek political asylum from another European country.

Todorović said that Damjanović did not have planning permission, but that he did have “certain documents,“ adding that none of the neighboring buildings had received planning permission, and that the Radicals would in future protect “their citizens.“

Damjanović said that if the demolition work went ahead he would take his case to the European Court of Justice in Strasbourg and seek political asylum from another European country.
