Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu is in New York where he will be meeting with representatives of the countries that have not recognized Kosovo. According to Albanian language daily Express, published in Pristina, Sejdiu will meet with a number of ambassadors of the UN member states, with the most important meetings expected to be those with officials "of the countries from the east". Sejdiu "in diplomatic action" Kosovo Albanian government's diplomatic representative in the United States, Avni Spahiu, would not discuss the details of the visit, but said its goal was to initiate recognition of Kosovo by those countries who have not done so yet. Earlier in the week Sajdiu, accompanied by Hashim Thaci, met in Washington with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who announced that Washington would continue to support them and provide assistance for Kosovo. The newspaper said that Thaci is due back in Pristina today, while Sejdiu will return on March 4. 55 countries including most EU member states and the U.S. have recognized the Kosovo Albanian unilateral declaration independence made in February 2008. Five EU states and UN Security Council members Russia and China refused to do so. Serbia considers the secession proclamation illegal.

The newspaper said that Thaci is due back in Priština today, while Sejdiu will return on March 4.
