Serb justice workers protested this morning in front of the Kosovo Mitrovica courthouse, demanding to be allowed to return to their jobs.

Serb justice workers protested this morning in front of the Kosovo Mitrovica courthouse, demanding to be allowed to return to their jobs. Judge Milan Bigovic told KIM radio that the protest was a warning over the failure to respect UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and that the workers were demanding reinstatement to their positions and to work in accordance with the resolution’s provisions. Serb justice workers protest “We protested because Resolution 1244 is not being respected and the six-point plan is not being carried out, and because of the attempts to shut down this international court and form some kind of Kosovo institution,” said Bigovic. The workers were supported in their protest by presidents of all the Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo and the district governor. Bigovic said written demands had been submitted to EULEX representatives responsible for justice, as well as UNMIK representatives. The protest will continue on Monday.
