A court in Munich has sentenced an Albanian-language interpreter to three years in prison for helping Albanian drug dealers.

A court in Munich has sentenced an Albanian-language interpreter to three years in prison for helping Albanian drug dealers. The interpreter, a 32-year-old woman, helped drug dealers last year while working for the police, warning them that the government was tapping their phone calls. Ex-KFOR cmdr. interpreter helped drug dealers The convicted woman, born in Germany to Kosovo Albanian parents, worked for then KFOR commander German General Roland Kather from 2006. She also worked for the Economy and Finance Ministry in Pristina, as well as the Swiss embassy in Kosovo. She has held German citizenship since 2002, and has worked for the police in Munich since last summer. Her job was to translate telephone messages and tapped telephone conversations between a group of Albanian drug dealers who sold at least a kilogram of heroin in Munich from April to July last year. During the court case, according to the media, the accused could not explain why she had warned the drug dealers, since she neither used heroin nor received money for her “services”. She told the court she was frustrated because she worked 10 to 12 hours a day and the head translator that the police hired degraded and constantly criticized her work.
