The government's strategic priority is for Serbia and the entire region to join the EU, according to Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Jeremic, who is in Munich for the Conference on Security Policy, spoke last night during a panel discussion to say that the process of EU integrations plays an important role in the security of the Western Balkans region. Jeremic: Region's future in EU He stressed Serbia's readiness to work on achieving that goal despite the differences that exist over the issue of Kosovo's status, "which should not be ignored". "We wish to work with you on the joint goal of achieving EU integrations and stability of the whole region," the minister said at the Caucasus and Western Balkans panel. Jeremic said that last year was "very difficult" for Serbia, since there was an attempt of secession of the southern Serbian province, but that one good moment was the signing of the SAA with the EU. According to him, Serbia reacted democratically after Kosovo Albanians unilaterally declared independence, "which was the first time that someone in the Balkans used legal and peaceful means to resolve a dispute". Asked about Belgrade's cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, the minister said there is "no doubt" that there is determination to finalize the cooperation with that court. Jeremic stated that Serbia is doing everything to locate, arrest and extradite the remaining Hague fugitives.
