Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic says that the changes to the parliamentary rules of procedure will enable faster adoption of the necessary laws. Djelic told reporters that, in the last six months, the government had done 75 percent of the work related to adopting laws needed for the country’s European integration process. Deputy PM expects swifter adoption of laws “I expect that after the Code of Procedure is changed, 16 laws that the government adopted and submitted to parliament, will be passed very quickly,” Djelic said. He said that a number of very important laws for Serbia’s European integration had to be adopted by 2012. The minister said that the government had to look at the first report for the last six months since the adoption of the National Program for EU Integration. “We will look at what we have done, how many laws we have adopted, how many regulations, and how many actual steps we have taken,” Djelic said. He pointed out that a technical mission from the European Commission was visiting Belgrade this week, looking at Serbia’s progress in meeting the conditions necessary for visa liberalization. Djelic also said that a regional conference on European integration and the economic crisis in the region had been held in Belgrade two days ago, adding that the conference was expected to continue in September, in Ohrid. “When it comes to European integration, the meetings are there to help Serbia itself,” Djelic said.
