The trial of Gani Gashi, accused of war crimes, has opened at the District Court in Pristina, with a EULEX mission judge presiding. Gashi, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), is accused of murdering an Albanian civilian and wounding one other in July 1998. EULEX opens first war crimes trial The murder was committed on the Komoran-Kisna Reka road, near Glogovac. According to the indictment, Gashi committed the murder in a region that had been the scene of clashes between the KLA and Serbian security forces. The two victims were innocent civilians who had tried to flee the fighting, so the indictment has qualified the crime as a crime against civilians. The three-member Trial Chamber that, besides the presiding judge, includes one other EULEX judge, questioned Gashi and two of the victims' relatives yesterday.

The murder was committed on the Komoran-Kišna Reka road, near Glogovac.

According to the indictment, Gashi committed the murder in a region that had been the scene of clashes between the KLA and Serbian security forces.
