Three members of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) have resigned, stating that they are unhappy with the formation’s selection process. Brigade General Fadil Kodra and Colonels Zenun Kodra and Raif Preteni said that they had resigned because the KSF selection process was not transparent and that recruitment board officials were directly interfering in the procedure, writes daily Koha Ditore. KSF Commander Sulejman Selimi told a Kosovo television station that he would not comment on the resignations until he received them officially. Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, who is also the force’s commander-in-chief, called for the situation not to be politicized, adding that there was obviously not enough room for everyone in that unit. “We must trust in the work and institutional cooperation with NATO, who are our main partners in helping the Kosovo institutions, ministries and KSF high command,” Sejdiu said, calling for patience, calm and composure. Unknown assailants fired rockets from a handheld launcher at the KSF barracks in Pec on January 22. While no one was injured in the attack, Pristina has not ruled out the possibility that the rockets were fired by dissatisfied members of the Kosovo Protection Corps, who had been barred from joining the KSF.
