Weekly Jedinstvo, a state-funded paper distributed in Kosovo, published the advertisement calling for recruits to the Kosovo security forces. The publishing sparked a reaction in parliament on Wednesday, with Serb Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic calling on the government to sack the Jedinstvo editorial team over the matter. “Publishing that kind of advertisement in a paper financed by the government and which is not funded by readership, advertising or sponsorships, is unacceptable, imprudent and irresponsible,” Nikolic told journalists in parliament. Socialist Party of Serbia MP Dejan Radenkovic said that no Serb should be manipulated or join the Kosovo Security Forces. “It’s quite simply unacceptable and is an issue for the minister; this paper is financed by the state and I think that when this paper comes down to the people, it could cause confusion and consternation, because if you start to read it, you have state officials, and, at the end, you have the adverts. Maybe it was paid for, but it’s simply unacceptable,” Radenkovic fumed. Top state officials have commented on the new force in Kosovo describing it as "unacceptable".
