Five days before the legal deadline for constituting a local assembly, an agreement has been reached to form a government in Prijepolje. An agreement was reached between the Sandzak Democratic Party of Rasim Ljajic, the Serb Progressive Party of Tomislav Nikolic, and the “For a Better Prijepolje” coalition, made up of the Democratic Party, the Socialist Party of Serbia, the Serbian Renewal Movement and G17 Plus. In the first phase, in order to avoid an extension of the emergency authorities’ mandate, the constitutive session of the local assembly will resume for a third time on January 16 to elect a municipal assembly speaker, a deputy speaker and an assembly secretary. The second phase is planned for next week, when the municipal president and other officials will be appointed, as will the members of the Municipal Council. The SDP, SNS and the “For a Better Prijepolje” coalition have a total of 37 councilors of the total 61 in the Prijepolje assembly. The opposition will consist of the Democratic Party of Sandzak with eight seats and the Radicals, SDA, the Liberal Democrats and Democratic Party of Serbia-New Serbia coalition with four mandates a piece.
