New Serbia (NS) deputy leader Dubravka Filipovski has called for new parliamentary elections in 2009. She said that “the ruling coalition does not have the capacity to face up to its problems.” New Serbia calls for new elections At a press conference, Filipovski criticized the government, stating that it had not fulfilled its big promises and that it would not be able to deal with an even bigger crisis that lies in store this year, “because it is focusing on itself and on blackmail.” Filipovski warned of the violence of Albanian terrorists in Kosovo, and slammed the passive reaction of the international forces “and the state, which can only lead to more destabilization in the region.” She highlighted the other challenges that the ruling coalition faced this year, such as a lack of budget revenue because of the unilateral implementation of the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU. The NS deputy leader also said that the ratification of the Vojvodina Statute could cause problems. Filipovski stated that the NS was calling for the prices of utilities and communal services like heating and public transport in Belgrade to be restored to their September level.
