War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic spoke for B92 on Monday to reveal some details about a series of raids in southern Serbia last week. Ten former KLA members were arrested in Presevo as MUP Gendarmes staged their operation in the early hours of Friday. Prosecutor reveals Presevo raids details Vukcevic says that the investigation, dubbed the Gnjilane Group case, started with information that indicated serious crimes committed against Serb civilians in Gnjilane might be uncovered. Now that 10 out of a total of 17 ethnic Albanian suspects are in custody for war crimes – which his spokesman Bruno Vekaric said were too grisly to be described in the media – Vukcevic believes that an official probe started on Monday will not take long to finish, and explains that the Presevo operation was planned carefully. "This operation lasted a total of one year. However, it was intensified in the field in the past four months. Everything was done to locate all of them and place them under surveillance." "The operation was executed with precision, it came as a complete surprise, you can see that from the arsenal of weapons that were found on them," he continued. Asked about the arms seized during the arrests, Vukcevic said they included automatic weapons and bombs. "You can also tell from the photographs [found in the homes of the suspects], and that is evidence, that they took pictures as KLA members." Vukcevic also explains that his office is not interested in politics and reminds that a while ago nine Serb policemen were arrested in one day, charged with crimes committed in Kosovo, and that they are currently undergoing trial.
