The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has sacked its Belgrade branch administration, it was reported on Thursday. The Belgrade office will temporarily be headed by party leader Vojislav Kostunica, until party elections in March. Kostunica to head DSS Belgrade branch “The executive council of the party has decided to change the decision on organizing the party in the capital city, and Kostunica decided to support the Belgrade council by personally leading it for a period of three months, giving additional support and strength to the party organization,” DSS spokesman Andreja Mladenovic said. Asked whether the changes were made because of disagreements between the DSS leadership and now former Belgrade branch chairman Nenad Komatina regarding cooperation with the Democratic Party (DS), Mladenovic said that the decision today has nothing to do with other parties or coalitions. “This is an internal change tied to creating a better organization of the city council and a better defining of our politics and it has nothing to do with other parties or coalitions,” Mladenovic said. A new administration will be selected on the city level in March, while Kostunica’s deputies in the meantime will be Sinisa Kovacevic and Milos Jovanovic. Mladenovic himself will head the temporary executive council of the DSS Belgrade branch, and will deal with organizational issues and the formation of an expert council aimed at helping to better define the party’s city policies.
