Austrian politician Hannes Swoboda says Serbia is cooperating sufficiently with the Hague and its EU integration should continue without further conditions. The European Parliament official in charge of relations with the countries of South-East Europe added that visas should be abolished for Serbian citizens as soon as possible. "Top EP official backs Serbia's EU path" Swoboda pointed out that there should be no further delay in the establishment of institutional frameworks between Serbia and the EU. He said in an interview for the Monday issue of daily Vecernje Novosti that he hoped Serbia would become a fully-fledged member of the EU in 2014 or 2015, and that this was of paramount importance not only to Serbia, but to the entire Balkans as well. Swoboda said that he had intervened in the European Parliament many times, calling for the liberalization of the visa regime for Serbian citizens. He said that he sincerely hoped that visas would finally be abolished in June or July next year, and added that there was no longer a single valid reason to continue punishing Serbia's citizens in this manner. The Austrian politician said that Serbia was cooperating sufficiently with the Hague Tribunal.
