According to officials parliament will debate government's budget draft, adopted on Saturday, at the end of next week. A restrictive budget proposal passed yesterday has left all the ministries unhappy, but Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic told reporters in Belgrade that once adopted, this legislation will help Serbia out of the "global economic crisis". Now it is up to MPs to debate and adopt it, with Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic announcing last night that the proposal had arrived and that it would immediately be included in the parliamentary procedure. "I expect the budget to reach the agenda on Dec. 12 or 13. Of course, I will consult whips about this," she said. "The budget will certainly be adopted this year, even if there are some slow-downs in parliament's work. Parliaments with much longer tradition experience that as well. The budget is the basic act passed by our parliament and I'm sure that the ruling parties and opposition will try to express their political position," Djukic-Dejanovic said.
