Fans of controversial singer Marko Perković, aka Thompson, have threatened to blow up the Pula Arena if the courts ban him from performing there.

Fans of controversial singer Marko Perkovic, aka Thompson, have threatened to blow up the Pula Arena if the courts ban him from performing there. A man, claiming to be calling from Split, threatened that he and a group of so-called Black Berets would blow up the Arena if the court rules against the singer. Thompson and his production company from Zagreb sued the Pula authorities for banning the controversial singer’s concert at the Pula Arena this summer, thus, Perkovic claims, violating his human rights. At a court hearing on November 17, Judge Mirna Franciskovic said that she was not interested in Perkovic’s character, but in the legal grounds for the Pula local authorities’ actions. After being turned back from the Pula Arena, which stated that the venue was already fully-booked, Thompson repeated on a number of occasions at his concerts that he would “kill communism in Istra, Pula, the Arena and anywhere else.” The singer, known for his links with the ustasha movement, has been banned from performing in several European countries. His concerts tend to abound with fans displaying ustasha insignia and brandishing ustasha salutes.
