Despite the government’s pledge to reassess the salaries in the public companies, opposition MPs are not happy. MPs have been blocking parliament’s work today, unsatisfied with the government’s explanation about the measures it had undertaken in response to the financial irregularities in the public companies. Parliament deadlocked after airport scandal Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic had to adjourn the session because of the opposition’s obstruction "After the government announced that it would analyze everything that had been discussed at yesterday’s session, MPs were still unsatisfied and said that they would continue to obstruct parliament’s work,” she said. "That is why I intend to hold consultations with the party whips and hear their suggestions and proposals about how the government should act,” Djukic Dejanovic said. She told journalists in parliament that she believed the government’s explanations had been more than satisfactory. Meanwhile, Liberal Democratic Party Leader Cedomir Jovanovic said that the case of the former Belgrade Airport Director was just another example of why Serbia needed to be depoliticized. "Kristo’s resignation most certainly cannot draw a line under all the problems we’re talking about when we say that the public companies serve as the political parties’ prey,” Jovanovic said He added that Kristo “was only the consequence of the party-based state, whose foundations were laid by the five-year reign of Vojislav Kostunica.” Natasa Jovanovic, from the opposition SRS, speaks in parliament today (Tanjug)
