The Tribunal stated on July 2, 2007, that Harachi sent Morina to convince Nazif Ramabaja to change his testimony in the case. Then minister Harachi sent his ministry colleague and sports journalist, Morina, to Norway, where Ramabaja has lived since the end of the war, with a message not to testify against Haradinaj, stating that he was “one of the three people that could save Haradinaj”. The defense stated that its client are innocent, adding that not enough evidence was provided by the prosecution to incriminate the defendants, and called for all charges to be dropped or the prison terms to be shortened. Harachi and Morina are not in custody, because the Tribunal allowed them temporary release until the verdict. They must return to The Hague by December 15, in order to attend the reading of the verdict two days later. Haradinaj and Balaj were freed of all 37 counts of the indictment because of a lack of relevant evidence, while Brahimaj was sentenced to six years in prison for the torture of two Kosovo Albanians. There were constant reports circulating in the media and public that Haradinaj’s people were intimidating witnesses in the case and forcing them to refuse to testify before the Tribunal in the trial. The prosecution has appealed for a retrial.
