Deputy PM and IM Ivica Dacic says an agreement could be signed between Serbia and Montenegro on dual citizenship by the end of this year. “We have finalized still another stage of the talks that should be completed in Montenegro by the end of November. The talks aim for a compromise proposal, because it seems that we cannot reach general agreement,” Dacic told Tanjug during his visit to the Ground Safety Zone on Saturday. "Dual citizenship deal by end of year" He reminded that Montenegro had "a restrictive, while Serbia adopted a liberal approach" to the resolution of the dual citizenship issue, noting that agreement had been made to accept the present state of affairs, since it was obvious that it would be impossible to reach general agreement on the matter. “In this way, the people that are to be granted both citizenships by the date on which this agreement will come into force will not have any problems in respect to the status they enjoy in the country in which they acquired citizenship by birth,” the interior minister said.
