Dragan Sutanovac says that Chinese officials had offered "absolute support for Serbia's efforts to take a peaceful approach to the Kosovo problem". The defense minister, who spent several days this week on an official visit to China, said that this country's Vice President Xi Jinping backed "not only Serbia's attempts to solve the question of Kosovo through negotiations, but also Serbia's European path". Sutanovac was also quoted as saying that the main reason for the Serbian delegation's trip to China – the signing of a defense sector agreement – confirmed tendencies to continue cooperation with the Chinese army, "which is in mutual interest". The Serbian defense chief also gave a lecture at the Military Academy in Beijing, where he spoke about the Balkans region, the situation in Kosovo, and Serbia's defense system reforms. Sutanovac said afterwards that he was "surprised and gladdened" because of the interest shown in these topics by the Chinese military officers attending. The defense minister also took time to visit the Chinese space center, and an army base in Shanghai. Dragan Sutanoviac, Xi Jinping, in Beijing (Tanjug)
