A spokesman for Kosovo's president says Pristina "does not need a neutral EU mission". Dzavit Beciri told reporters that Kosovo Albanians want EULEX that will function based on UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari's plan. K. Albanians say "neutrality" unacceptable "Kosovo does not need a neutral EULEX. That mission is acceptable only in the way in which it was envisaged in the Ahtisaari plan and any other modification is not acceptable for the Kosovo institutions," this spokesman told the local daily Zeri. Some of the province's leading opposition parties have also spoken against EULEX adopting a "status-neutral" position, according to reports. They include leaders of the Democratic Alliance of Dardania and the Alliance for the future of Kosovo, Nedzat Daci and Ramush Haradinaj. Haradinaj said in Pristina on Friday that EULEX's neutrality would have "a negative influence on Kosovo's stability".
