If made to chose between joining the EU and recognizing Kosovo, Belgrade "would have say 'no' to anything that violates its democratic order", Vuk Jeremic says. “At this moment, our policy toward Kosovo is not slowing down Serbia on its path leading to full-fledged EU membership. We will do all we can so that these two processes be never brought into connection." Jeremic on "EU or Kosovo" choice "The official policy of both Belgrade and Brussels is that these are two separate processes,” the foreign minister said in an interview for the Belgrade weekly Vreme. Speaking about the deployment of the EU Mission (EULEX) in Kosovo, Jeremic said that along with a corresponding confirmation of the UN Security Council, Serbia also insisted that the mission be status neutral and that it did not implement the Ahtisaari plan, pointing out that the UN Secretariat was the only collocutor for the talks about UNMIK's reconfiguration. “These talks are still under way, and full accord has still not been reached. But I hope that we will manage to reach agreement eventually,” Jeremic said. He also reiterated that if no agreement is reached on the issue, which would meet all the requests of Belgrade, Serbia will not accept any kind of reconfiguration of the international civil presence in Kosovo.
