Serb Progressive Party leader Tomislav Nikolic says that his party represents the “biggest threat to Boris Tadic.” Nikolic told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti that the Serb Progressive Party’s (SNS) ambition was to lead Serbia, adding that it would not be good for the state “to remain completely bereft of an opposition.” SNS "biggest threat to Tadic" The SNS leader said that he could hardly wait for the elections, adding that he did not expect them until at least mid-2009. He said that he had sent messages to Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica, but had not received any response from the former prime minister. "Kostunica is obviously doing his own thing, and I don’t want to accuse him of breaking up the opposition bloc by refusing to cooperate with the SNS,” Nikolic said. He has though been in contact with New Serbia leader Velimir Ilic and with some senior DSS officials. The SNS leader believes that the “silence is not only caution, but also partial fear of the SNS taking over the complete opposition field.” "I don’t know anything about the motives of Kostunica’s advisers, but in the last three years I can’t remember a single good move by any of them.
