Parliament continues its debate on amendments to the draft law on the protection of the state borders. Last night, parliament ended its debate on details regarding the draft law on foreign citizens. Parliament debating law on state borders The draft laws on foreign citizens and the protection of state borders are the last two from the Interior Ministry’s purview that Serbia needs to adopt for accession to the Schengen white list. The draft law on protection of state borders states that the system of border management protects the stability of state borders, prevents the spread of crime, illegal border crossing and illegal migration. By adoption of these laws the most important conditions for integrated border management will be met—open borders for people and goods, and closed border for all kinds of organized crime. 15 amendments have been submitted to parliament on this law. MPs are also due to discuss amendments to the law on higher education.

Parliament debating law on state borders

The draft laws on foreign citizens and the protection of state borders are the last two from the Interior Ministry’s purview that Serbia needs to adopt for accession to the Schengen white list.

The draft law on protection of state borders states that the system of border management protects the stability of state borders, prevents the spread of crime, illegal border crossing and illegal migration.

By adoption of these laws the most important conditions for integrated border management will be met—open borders for people and goods, and closed border for all kinds of organized crime.

15 amendments have been submitted to parliament on this law.

MPs are also due to discuss amendments to the law on higher education.
