Houses collapse in Belgrade suburb
Four houses have collapsed in the Belgrade suburb of Čubura last night, however, there were no injuries reported.

Four houses have collapsed in the Belgrade suburb of Cubura last night, however, there were no injuries reported. Police investigated the scene and secured the perimeter, according to Deputy Interior Minister Predrag Maric. City inspection and the investigative judge were also at the scene, along with Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas. Houses collapse in Belgrade suburb The owners of the homes said that before the houses collapsed, they could hear slight crackling noises and felt a tremor. All of the homeowners believe that the collapse was a direct result of ongoing construction of a building of several stories, built close to the homes. Nedeljko Prelic, who represents investors of the Optos Group, said that the construction site is well secured and that an expert team will be called in to determine the cause of the accident. The main contractor for the building is the Komgrap company. Djilas said that the city will secure hotel rooms for the 17 families that do not have anywhere to live currently. Asked whether repairs will be done, Djilas said “they will, but the damage will never be able to be fully repaired. Someone could have gotten hurt here, but fortunately no one did. That is what is most important.” Two years ago, in the same street, parts of another building collapsed due to a landslide.
