The EU Council of Ministers will not discuss unfreezing the Interim Trade Agreement with Serbia at its meeting on Monday, Tanjug understands from Brussels. “As regards the Interim Agreement with Serbia, we’ll see how things unfold, or wait for the arrest of a suspect or, ultimately, the appraisal of Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz that full cooperation has been achieved,“ said EU French Presidency spokeswoman Marine de Carne, pointing out that Brammertz’s report was due in December. The meeting of EU foreign ministers will be devoted to the summit of heads of state next week in Brussels, relations with Russia and Belarus, as well as with Moldova and Uzbekistan. The summit of heads of state on October 15-16 will be devoted to the world financial crisis, energy issues and the situation in Georgia. During a working lunch, ministers will discuss implementation of the peace agreement in Georgia, where 200 EU observers have been stationed since October 1. The EU expressed its satisfaction this week with the fact that Russia had complied with the agreement and withdrawn its troops within the agreed time frame. Ministers will also discuss relations with Belarus following the parliamentary elections there in late September, while there will also be a meeting in the margins of the summit between the EU Troika and Belarus.
