The shareholder assembly of Politika today relieved Ljiljana Smajlovic of her duties as the newspaper's editor-in-chief. At the same time, Politika Newspapers and Magazines General Director Srdjan Janicijevic submitted his resignation. Politika editor-in-chief sacked The sacking of Smajlovic was requested by the domestic owner, which holds editorial rights, reports say. Politika is co-owned by German Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung Medien Group. Also in Belgrade on Wednesday, Radmilo Kljajevic has been appointed acting editor-in-chief of the daily. Although the company has announced a competition to hire a Smajlovic's replacement, no deadline for the completion of this process has been set.

The sacking of Smajlović was requested by the domestic owner, which holds editorial rights, reports say. Politika is co-owned by German Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung Medien Group.

Also in Belgrade on Wednesday, Radmilo Kljajević has been appointed acting editor-in-chief of the daily.
