The EU Justice and Police Mission has set six standards that should help lead to improving the quality of the Kosovo police. Pristina daily Koha Ditore writes that the standards include perseverance, responsibility, multi-ethnicity, freedom from political influence, fulfillment of international professional standards, and learning from the best European experiences. EULEX sets six Kosovo police standards The EULEX mission is planning to cooperate closely with the police to develop a strategy to enhance the work of the Kosovo police. The mission is expected to become operational by the end of the autumn, by which time a review of the current state of the Kosovo police will have been carried out. "The current state of the [Kosovo] police is not clear. However, the things we want to achieve are well known, and have been included within EULEX’s objectives,“ states a document seen by the daily. Precise deadlines for the fulfillment of these objectives are also included within the report. The first appraisal will be conducted within two years, while the appraisal of the tasks accomplished in accordance with the six standards will be conducted every six months.
