Special police units in Doboj have arrested a number of Serb Democratic Party (SDS) activists on suspicion of buying votes ahead of the elections.

Special police units in Doboj have arrested a number of Serb Democratic Party (SDS) activists on suspicion of buying votes ahead of the elections. Beta understands from sources close to Republic of Srpska MUP that 17 SDS members were arrested on the orders of the Doboj District Prosecution on suspicion of offering bribes and buying votes ahead of the October 5 local elections. RS police arrest SDS activists Prime Minister Milorad Dodik’s Union of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) earlier filed criminal complaints against these people, accusing them of using municipal funds to buy votes in the Doboj region. The SDS in Doboj responded with a counter claim against the municipal SNSD alleging that supporters of that party had distributed leaflets threatening that those who voted for SDS candidate for mayor Obren Petrovic would be sent to prison.
