An investigative judge of the War Crimes Chamber in Belgrade on Friday launched an investigation against U.S. national Peter Egner. Egner is suspected of being a member of the Nazi Gestapo in occupied Serbia during the Second World War, and of being responsible for the crime of genocide and other war crimes committed against the civilian population in Belgrade. Investigation launched against Nazi suspect The War Crimes Trial Chamber of the Belgrade District Court specified in a statement that Egner is suspected of committing these crimes from April 1941 to June 1944, when he served as an NCO with the Gestapo.
