The Youth Ministry and the Fund for Young Talent has organized a competition to award grants to 500 students. The winners will have the chance to study at universities in EU member-states. Competition for grants to EU unis Grants of EUR 15,625 per student will be awarded at the end of the competition, which closes on September 15. Youth and Sport Minister Snezana Samardzic Markovic told B92 that those eligible for the grants had to be Serbian citizens or have refugee status with residency in Serbia, had to be under the age of 25, and with an average grade of no less than 8.5. “The terms of the competition also state that students should be prepared to accept the commitment that five years after having completing their studies abroad, they should return to work in Serbia. This is very important in order to put a stop to the ‘brain drain’. This is a good opportunity for that,” the minister said. She said that interested students could find all additional information in the daily press, where the ministry has posted an advertisement, as well as on the ministry’s website, where they can download application forms.
