Dragoslav Petrovic, DS, has confirmed that an unknown person attacked him in Novi Sad early on Sunday. Petrovic is a provincial council official, and the DS whip in the provincial assembly of Vojvodina. DS official confirms he was assaulted Today, he told Novi Sad's daily Dnevnik that he was having dinner with friends in the city's Ribarsko Ostrvo, and that the assault took place as he was walking toward his car. "An unknown man jumped from the dark, from the bushes, and hit me across the back with a metal bar so hard that my shoulder blade broke," Petrovic said. He also said he received no threats previously, and that there was no conflict situation that evening. Asked whether he suspected the motives for the attack could be political, Petrovic said he could not claim any such thing, adding, "let the police do their job".
